At Dr. Gordon Hall’s Brighton dental office, we offer endodontics or root canal therapy. Root canal therapy is needed when the innermost layer of your tooth (pulp and nerves) is damaged. This damage can be caused by injury, a deep cavity, or infection. As a result of this damage, the nerve may die. To save the damaged tooth from extraction, root canal therapy is performed.
The procedure includes creating an access in the tooth so that the infected pulp and nerves can be removed. The tooth is then cleaned, and the root filled and sealed with a thermoplastic material. Either with a filling or a crown, the tooth is restored to prevent breakage or loss of the tooth’s structure.
